Ten Hot Tips For AdSense Optimization

Ten Hot Tips For AdSense Optimization

This post is in continuation with my previous post on SEO tips.My entire focus is on to extract practical information which everyone can easily apply and benefit from while optimizing AdSense.Your 'make money with AdSense' dream will churn big bucks with lot of analysis in deciphering AdSense functioning which is usually not explained by Google.I would recommend before jumping straight to the tips which I have suggested in this blog,do read the following posts on AdSense of mine in the past, which will help in better understanding of AdSense:
# Google AdSense Content Policy
# Google AdSense Policies Unleashed
# Decyphering AdSense
Google is a fan of new, unique content and it regularly keeps enhancing, modifying its algorithms in order to crawl new and quality content on WWW.So if you are a blogger or own a website,be original.

1. Knowing high paying keywords is very crucial as AdSense contextual ads are generated on the keywords which you might have used in your article. It is a good practice to analyze these keywords at least once a week and not less than thrice a month.Keep updating your posts to target AdSense ads.Refer my SEO post to check out the ways to research on Keywords related to your website content.Google Suggest and Keyword Discovery are two free tools which may help you to decide on keywords to choose. It is important to pick a keyoword which is uniques, good priced and less fought for amongst publishers.

2. It is very important, how do you present advertisements to you target audience.Create channels for each type and format(Text Links ads,Skyscrapper,Horizontal,Vertical etc.) of ads to give you an insight on performance of each format.Blend these ads with the layout and presentation of your blog and website theme.Ads should not stand out from your website but compliment the contents of your website.

3. Avoid making pages which simply shows ads,it not only creates a bad reputation of yours as a publisher amongst your audience but also against Google policies.

4. Keep changing placements of your ads,be innovative to increase CTR of your pages.Make your pages clean,clutter-free and place ads which makes their purpose most fruitful. There is no hard and fast rule of how you can generate more clicks from your ads.Keep experimenting with integrating Channels for getting better results.General guides for ad placements which work well, but surely not a guarantee of continued CTR increase:

a.Skyscrappers best suits on the left side navigation bar.

b.Link ads depending upon format may best be suited either on top of page or in right side bar(square format).

c.Place ads between your contents. You will have to make changes to your template in case of blogs, for which there are lot of websites providing you hack.

d.Do not make lengthy pages as most of web-surfers hate browsing down the long pages. It is better you distribute information into multiple pages and link them up.

e.Place Google Search Ad either at top or in right side navigation bar.

f.Refer following map from 'Google AdSense Help' website which gives detail on positioning of Google Ads within a blog.

5. AdWord KeywordTool helps you in finding out values of phrases and keywords associated with your business.I will not write much here in detail as I have covered the same in my previous post.Google AdSense Sandbox is tool that lets you punch in keywords and see the results right away... in every different format of AdSense unit.

6. Ensure pinging service is enabled to maintain the consistency of traffic to your website.Use multiple pinging services like:
Pingoat
Autopinger
In Blogger enable 'Send Pings' by setting it to 'Yes' in Settings-Publishing tab.

7. Avoid filtering of your ads.As filtering helps in avoiding unwanted ads but it decreases the number of ads shown.Less ads may trigger less CTR but it is not a hard and fast rule.A reader must feel an urge for ad click as an extension of information or service that your website is providing in.

8. According to AdSense CTR =[(No of Clicks on Ads)/(Total ad/ad unit/page Impressions)]*100.

It is very important to know that one must never ever discuss one's CTR in public forums as this leads to breach of Google policy.

For High CTR one needs more clicks and less page impressions.A high traffic to ones site is not a guarantee for high CTR.I explain it with one example:

If you have a low traffic website, say only 10 visits a day and you show only 1 Google ad and which results in 4 clicks then on this day your CTR will be 40%

But if you have a high traffic, say 100 visits and you show 1 Google ad and which results in 4 clicks then on this day your CTR will be 4%.
One shouldn't be aiming for at target figure at all, one should be aiming to improve to whatever level is possible with one's site.Make few minor changes to layout and styling which my result in good CTR.
I think it $$ which everyone is interested in not the CTR,you simply cannot buy anything from those CTRs.So who cares as long as $$ are coming in.

9. The page impressions differ from ad unit impressions. If multiple ad units are present on a page, only a single page impression will be logged when a page with Google ads loads, irrelevant of the number of ad units. It is significant you exploit Google policies related to number of ads per page to the maximum of your benefit,so whenever a new design experiment, design a custom report for that experiment. You can make multiple custom reports and save them for quick access in the future.

10. Incorporate Referral products ad and Google search ad in your blog/website to increase your earnings.

I hope by applying these tactics, one may find a substantial increase in ones earnings and I am least bother about CTR, you know.If you think this post really helped you in some way then link it back to your website, if it does not cost too much....:-))

summary, and note on feeds

Your blog and Google Sitemaps: summary, and note on feeds

1. Make sure your site is being indexed by Google already (no point pinging them if it isn't!). Submit your blog URL to Google if not, and then be patient - do the occasional search to check.

2. Assuming your blog is already on Google, sign in to Google Sitemaps using your blog Gmail address (or register with Google for a Google Account if you haven't yet, then sign in).

3. Under Add Site, enter the URL of your blog and OK. Against your blog URL, click Add a Sitemap, choose type Add General Web Sitemap. In the list that appears, tick all the boxes:

• I have created a Sitemap in a supported format.
• I have uploaded my Sitemap to the highest-level directory to which I have access.

• My Sitemap URL is:

and in the box below that, enter the URL of your blog's feed (NOT the main blog URL), then click Add Web Sitemap. (For example my feed URL is http://consumingexperience.blogspot.com/atom.xml and yours should be similar, i.e. your blog URL with /atom.xml added to it, if you're on Blogger). The Sitemap Status column should now say Pending.

Check back by logging in from time to time; the Sitemap Status column should change from Pending to OK which means they've, theoretically at least, re-crawled your blog.

After it's done the first re-crawl, under your site name there's a link labelled "Verify" which asks you to upload a verification file to your server. If you can't upload anything (which is the case with us Blogspot users), don't worry about it. Verification just gives you access to more detailed Google stats; the lack of it won't stop Google from re-indexing your blog at all - see the Sitemaps help (but consider lobbying Blogger (the Suggest New Feature box at the bottom) and also Google Sitemaps to allow what we need - tell 'em you want Blogspot users to be able to have full Sitemaps functionality including verification!) [Added 28 April 2006:] As from 26 April 2006 you can now verify your Blogspot blog - see this post for a howto and why you might want to verify.

4. In future, when you update your blog or site, ping Google Sitemaps. Other ways are mentioned in my previous post, all just variations on the same thing, but the easiest way by far is to use this form - fill in your blog feed's URL (NOT main blog URL), then hit the button. Bookmark the resulting page or save it as a favorite, then next time you want to ping Google, just click on the saved bookmark/favorite:

Checking your feed
I just wanted to add a note about the importance of checking your site feed settings. Google takes your feed file (the XML file) to use for its sitemap. This means what gets re-crawled on your site or blog will depend on what's in your feed.

So - you should make sure your feed file is being created in the first place, if you don't already make use of your feed! In Blogger it's Settings, Site Feed, and make sure Publish Site Feed is set to Yes (it should be by default anyway - Blogger normally create the feed file for you whether or not you make use of it).

Also, Google will only notice the URLs of posts which are listed in your site feed. If the feed shows only the last 5 posts, and you've just written 15, the earliest 10 may not get picked up. To fix this, you need to change the settings so that your feed reflects the number of posts that will be most appropriate for your blog, e.g. 15 in this case, and leave it like that until Google have re-crawled your blog. It's easiest to pick a number that will work for how much and how often you post on average, and then leave it alone. (If you've not come across feeds as used in your blog yet, I plan to write an introduction sometime, when I can get to it! For now, if you're on Blogger at least, hopefully this explanation will be enough for present purposes).

There should be a setting somewhere to tweak your feed. On Blogger, it's not on your site feed page - instead go to Settings then the Formatting tab. It's the setting for Show X posts on the main page. This seems also to dictate the number of posts shown in your site feed. So you can adjust the number there.

How to Submit Site to Google

How to Submit Site to Google?

To submit your blog to the Search Engines..............

After completing your blog and postings you have to submit your blog to the major Search Engines. This is because there are millions of sites out there on the world wide web and the search bots/spiders will not come to your site/blog unless you inform them that a site has been constructed and needs viewers.

There are millions of sites on the web and viewers nowadays have to rely on the search engines to inform them of the best site for the subject they are looking for. Unless you submit your site to the search engines they will never come to know of your site/blog.

TO REMOVE YOUR SITE OR PART OF IT FROM GOOGLE INDEX GO TO Removing my content from the Google index.
After submission the search engines send their spiders to crawl over and index your site and putit in their cache. These 'spiders' are automated programs which periodically visit your site to see if you have made any changes to it.

One advantage of hosting your site on the Blogger platform is that Google's spiders periodically visit your site. To add your site to Google head over to :

http://www.google.com/webmasters/sitemaps

and sign in with your Google Account. Copy and paste the URL of your site/blog into the text box at the top for "Add Site" and click OK. Google adds the site and the next page opens on which click "Verify your Site". On the next page clickdown arrow besides "Choose Verification Method". Here select " Add a Meta Tag" and a metatag is generated for you. Copy and paste this metatag into your template just below the title tags. This part ofthe template is the second part outlined in Parts of Template. Save the template. Also add this Metatag :

meta name="robots" content="INDEX, FOLLOW"

This is so that when Googlebot visits your page it will index it and follow all the links within it.

To prevent Google from indexing add NOINDEX NOFOLLOW instead.

Now Go back to Google Sitemaps page and click on Verify button. Now click on "My Sites" link at the very top of the page under "Google Webmaster Tools". A page opens up to show a list of all the sites you have submitted to Google. Click on "Add a Sitemap" on the same line as your blog/site. The 'Add Sitemap' Page opens up and click down arrow next to "Choose Type" and select "Add General Web Sitemap". In the third line text box under 'My Sitemap url is' paste the feed url of your blog which is :

http://MYBLOGNAME.blogspot.com/rss.xml

Instead of 'MYBLOGNAME' type in name of your blog. Click on Add Web Sitemap Button.
This completes the process of adding the sitemap of your blog to Google. There is no need to upload any sitemap file to blogger or to your blog.

If you only want to add your site to Google without adding a Sitemap go to :

http://www.google.com/addurl/?continue=/addurl

ADD YOUR BLOG TO GOOGLE BLOG SEARCH

To add your blog to Google Blog Search go here and add your blog URL in the text box provided and click'Submit Blog'.

ADD YOUR BLOG TO YOUR CUSTOMIZED GOOGLE SEARCH PAGE.

Go to www.google.com and create a personalised search page. Click on Add Stuff link at the top next to 'Home'. In the next page which opens click on 'Add by url' link next to Google Search bar at the top. Enter the url of your blog feed in the text box provided and click on Add. The feed url for classic blogger is :

http://MYBLOG.blogspot.com/atom.xml
http://MYBLOG.blogspot.com/rss.xml

Enter your blog name instead of "MYBLOG" above. The feeds url for Beta blogger are :

http://yourblogname.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/full
http://yourblogname.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default?alt=rss

ADVANCED GOOGLE SEARCH OPERATORS :

To see who is linking to your blog type "link:http://myblog.blogspot.com" without the quotes in the search box and press Search. Notice that there is no space between link and the blog URL.

To see sites similar to your site/blog type "related:http://myblog.blogspot.com" without the quotes in the search box and press Search. Notice that there is no space between related and the blog URL. This is a good way of finding out your competing sites.

To see your blog cache in Google type "cache:http://myblog.blogspot.com" without the quotes in the search box and press Search. Notice that there is no space between cache and the blog URL. This will give an indication when Googlebot last visited your site.

To see information about your blog type "info:http://myblog.blogspot.com" without the quotes in the search box and press Search. Notice that there is no space between info and the blog URL.

To see how many pages Google has indexed type "site:myblog.blogspot.com" without the quotes in the search box and press Search. Notice that there is no space between site and the blog URL.

WHAT IS MY PAGE RANK?

Page Rank is Google's patented method of ranking your page according to how many links are pointing to it from other pages on the web. The more the links the more important is your page and it will rise accordingly in Google's search results. When calculating Page Rank more weight is given to a link coming from a page with a higher page rank. Hence it pays to buy links on a page with a higherpage rank then yours. The link should mention the title of your page which in turn should be composed of your keywords.

Add a Recent Posts List after Every Post.

Add a Recent Posts List after Every Post.

Add a Recent Posts List after every post in your blog so that any reader reading a single post can see at the end of the post this list and then if interested may go there..........

To put a Recent Posts List in the sidebar see List Previous Posts.
To do this we will use your blog's feed to put a list of recent posts at the bottom of every post. First we will have to turn on the blog feed. For this go to Settings----->Site Feed---->Blog Posts Feed----->Set this to Short by clicking on the drop-down arrow then----->Save Settings. By setting this to short only a short section of your posts will be delivered to the reader who then hopefully will be intrigued enough to visit your blog to read the rest of the post. For our purpose we need only the titles of the posts so this also serves our interests. Then we need the URL of the feed. For beta blogs the RSS feed URL is :

http://yourblogname.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default?alt=rss

Substitute actual name of your blog instead of 'yourblogname' above.

Now head over to an online RSS-to-Javascript converter. There is one located at :

http://itde.vccs.edu/rss2js/build.php

Type or paste your RSS blog feed url in the text box provided. See picture below. Click on image to enlarge it.

Fill in the other options. We do not want a title so set Show Channel as No. Enter the number of items to display. Set Show Item descriptions to 0 as we want only the titles to be displayed. Set Show item posting date to No. and Set Open links in a new window to Yes as we do not want the original post page to be closed or covered by new content. Click on Preview to check that the feed is being generated properly and then click Generate Javascript. Javascript code is generated along with code for browsers not supporting Javascript. Copy the whole code. This is Step 2.

Login to your dashboard of Beta Blogger and click on Layouts of the blog whose feed you had taken in the first step. The Page Elements window opens. .

Then scroll down in Edit Template text box till you come to :

div class='column' id='main-wrapper'
b:section class='main' id='main'

In the second line add : maxwidgets='4' showaddelement='yes' so that it reads like this :

b:section class='main' id='main' maxwidgets='3' showaddelement='yes'

Then Save Template. This change will enable you to add extra Page Elements/Widgets to the main column.

Now click on Page Elements tab and then click on the new Add Page Element link in the Blog Posts column. Choose Html/Javascript option in the new window which opens and paste the Javascript code from Step 2 here. Type 'RECENT POSTS' in the title field. Save changes. Back in Page Elements view you will see a new element added on top of your Blog Posts. Click and drag it to below your Blog Posts in the same column. This will place it below your Blog Posts and it will appear below each post in individual post view. See how I have added it below.

Submit Your RSS Feed To Google Now

Submit Your RSS Feed To Google Now

Google switched on what may be a feature marking an historical evolutionary point in the evolution of the most popular Internet search engine.
Within the Google Personalized Home Page facility, Google has in fact activated a full RSS aggregator, capable of bringing together on your private Google Home page any and all the feeds that you want to subscribe to.

It goes with it that for Google to make this possible, it is also capturing, indexing and tracking any and each of those RSS feeds, though what the most popular search engine is exactly going to do with that feed data is not yet visible to the public.
So in one shot Google opens up officially to full RSS adoption and use, launches an online RSS aggregator that is easy and functional to use and opens up the door for RSS feed submissions directly to its indexes.
The new Google Personalized Home page allows indeed easy addition of RSS feed URLs, though the interface isn't as sleek and functional as the one from Microsoft Start, which I like so far the best.
With this move Google equalizes somehow the advantage that Yahoo and Microsoft had taken over it with earlier introductions of their Web-based RSS aggregators and officially steps into the RSS-fray for indexing and leveraging at some point or another the full cloud of RSS content that it will be collecting.
And for those of you interested in increasing the reach and visibility of your RSS feeds, you now have a fast, easy and direct way to submit your those feeds to Google itself.
While it is hard to say now how and when Google will start leveraging that RSS-based content to augment, expand and diversify its search capabilities, it is almost certain that at it will.
So, to make your blog and RSS feed part of this new Google index, head off to the Google Personalized Home page facility and follow this simple instructions:
a) If you don't have a Google Account click here and create one now. (If you do just go to http://www.google.com/ig and log in)
b) Sign in on the Google Personalized Home Page.

c) Look at the left column and click on "Create a section".
d) Input your RSS or Atom feed directly.
That's all!

For now, the Google Personalized Home page displays only a the feed title (cut off to the first three words) and the titles (only) of the latest posts appearing in it.
Please test it out yourself, and let me have your feedback and insight.

N.B.: While testing further the new Google Personalized Home Page features, I also noticed that, nonetheless I do have a GMail account, I wasn't able to make Google display a feed of the latest emails show up on this page. While I could have input the RSS feed that is generated by GMail accounts by default, I wanted to see whether there was any way to specify which GMail account I wanted to monitor. But, as it seems, I'll have to wait for this.

For now Google only allows me to specify how many email messages I want to preview here, but gives me no option to specify my Gmail account.

Google Analytics

Google Analytics hearts AdSense publishers

As an AdSense publisher, you've probably put a lot of effort into making your website the best it can be -- optimizing your ads, building good content, and driving high quality visits. But there's one crucial step left: to see just how effective these things are. How many visitors are you getting each day? What pages are they visiting? Where do they come from, and which keywords brought them to your site -- both from pay-per-click efforts and from natural search? Many website owners push their site live, and then leave it at that, remaining in the dark about all these questions.

Google Analytics can enlighten you. We think it's much more fun to have the answers to these burning questions, and that you owe it to yourself to know for sure. After all, this is the payoff for all the hard work that's gone into creating your site. When you launch or make a change to it, there's that initial excitement of wondering who's going to check it out. And Google Analytics can help you with all of this. It's as easy to set up as AdSense. All you need to do is add a couple lines of code to each page in your site, and to gain valuable insight with graphical representations of visitor levels and detailed, easy-to-use reports that show:

pageviews of each of individual web pages
the average time spent on each page
new vs. returning visitors
visitors' geographical location and language
their browser and platform choices
click path data

Perhaps this gives you an idea of how Google Analytics can help you measure the success of changes to your site, and confidently make design choices. The best part? After retreating into invitation mode since it launched last November, we're happy to tell you that Analytics is now available for everyone, so you can get started analyzing your site right away.

Adsense Payrate

Adsense Pay Rate

Google does not disclose exactly how much you'll earn per ad clicked. The payment you receive depends on how much advertisers are paying Google for the particular keyword ad. You will earn a share of that amount. I've heard of people earning anywhere from 2 cents to $15 per click.

So it is logical to believe that the more popular keywords (debt free, money, mp3, etc.) may earn you more since these are highly competitive keywords that are searched for quite a bit on the web. As a result, advertisers generally pay more for these keywords.
In other words, it would be to your advantage to create a site that focuses around the more popular keywords to increase your chances of earning more for the ads you display.
To get an idea of the keywords people are paying the most money for check out high paying keywords list .

Even though Google will not reveal how much you are earning for each ad that is clicked from your site, you can still login to your account at any time and see the total amount of revenue you've generated that day, week, month, year, etc.
How much you'll earn also depends largely on the amount of targeted traffic you receive to your own site, how well the ads match your audience's interests and of course, the amount you receive per click.

Google pays Web site owners with a monthly check that is sent directly to your specified address.

Keep in mind, the better the ads match your content, the more clicks you'll receive.

Adsense features

Adsense features

Adsense Features

The important AdSense features are listed below.

Context Sensitivity

Google ads are based on your website content. The keyword rich content decides your ads.
Google says :"We go beyond simple keyword matching to understand the context and content of web pages. Based on an algorithm that includes such factors as keyword analysis, word frequency, font size, and the overall link structure of the web, we know what a page is about, and can precisely match Google ads to each page."Occasionally Google gets it wrong. It places great importance on the file name. So be sure to use important keywords in the file name of each page, such as "contextual-advertising.html" for an article on contextual advertising.

Google adsense allows you to display either textual ads or image ads or both.

Example Adsense Ad Formats

Multiple Ad Units
Google adsense allows upto 3 ad units per webpage. These ad units can be of same kind or different type.
leaderboard (728x90)
banner (468x60)
skyscraper (120x600)
medium rectangle (300x250)
Multiple Search Units

Google's Search is also available to adsense users in the name of adsense for web search. Google adsense allows 2 search units per web page. Adsense for search can be both as web search and site search.

Relevant Ads Only

Google adsense is backed by google's unique keyword matching algorithm. Thus the ads coming on your site is based on the keywords in your sites content.
Live Statistics

From your adsense control panel you can view the live statistics of the clicks, impressions , CPM ( Earnings per 1000 impressions), CTR ( Click Through Rate ), each day's earnings. These statistics are almost real time now. You will get the data with in seconds.

URL Filter

You can add up to 200 sites to your filter list. The URLs you enter into your filter list can be the actual URL of the website or the URL that is displayed on the ad for that website.
Channels

Channels provide you with a way to view detailed reporting about the performance of your pages. By pasting channel-specific ad code into any combination of pages, you can track a variety of metrics across your sites. Track your leaderboard performance versus the performance of your towers, or compare your motorcycle pages to your automobile pages, by assigning each group of pages to a specific channel and comparing results in your custom channel reports. You can even assign a channel to each of your separate domains, to see where your clicks are coming from.

With up to 50 AdSense channels, plus 50 AdSense for search channels available for each publisher, you can use channels to gain the insight you need to optimize your site's performance. It's easy to add, deactivate, or rename your channels, and customized reports are simple to generate.

Alternate Ads

Alternate ads allow you to utilize your ad space in the event that Google is unable to serve targeted ads to your page. By specifying an image, HTML page, or ad server of your choice, you can make sure that your advertising space is always being used effectively, either by targeted Google ads, or by your own choice of content. You can also select a solid color or collapsing ad unit script as your alternate ad, if you prefer not to display other advertisements or content when targeted Google ads are unavailable. Alternate ads count as page impressions like any other ad. Google does not keep track of clicks on alternate ads and you will not receive revenue for them. Alternate ads, if specified, will be shown when there are no targeted ads available for your page.

Collapsing Ad Unit

Collapsing ad units are an optional advanced feature of alternate ads – the collapsing ad unit code will 'collapse' your ad unit so that it takes up no page space if there are no targeted ads available. This allows you to minimize any blank space that would otherwise occur through the use of alternate colors. You will need to host a small HTML file on your domain. Your alternate ad URL will reference this file, which will be called if there are no ads available for that particular ad unit.

16 Ways to Drive Traffic to Your Blog

16 Ways to Drive Traffic to Your Blog

1. Set up a Bloglet subscription form on your blog and invite everyone in your network to subscribe: family, friends, colleagues, clients, associates.

2. Set up a feed on MyYahoo.com so your site gets regularly spidered by the Yahoo search engine (see tutorial on http://www.biztipsblog.com)
http://www.my.yahoo.com

3. Read and comment on other blogs that are in your target niche. Don't write things like "nice blog" or "great post." Write intelligent, useful comments with a link to your blog.

4. Use Ping-0-matic to ping blog directories. Do this every time you publish.
http://www.pingomatic.com

5. Submit your blog to traditional search engines: http://www.submitfire.com

6. Submit your blog to blog directories. The most comprehensive list of directories is on this site:
http://www.masternewmedia.org/rss/top55/

Tip: Create a form to track your submissions; this can take several hours when you first start so schedule an hour a day for submitting or hire a VA to do it for you.

7. Add a link to your blog in your email signature file.

8. Put a link to your blog on every page of your website.

9. If you publish a newsletter, make sure you have a link to your blog in every issue.

10. Include a link to your blog as a standard part of all outgoing correspondence such as autoresponder sequences, sales letters, reports, white papers, etc.

11. Print your blog URL on your business cards, brochures and flyers.

12. Make sure you have an RSS feed URL that people can subscribe to. The acronym RSS means Rich Site Summary, or some may consider its meaning as Really Simple Syndication. It is a document type that lists updates of websites or blogs available for syndication. These RSS documents (also known as 'feeds') may be read using aggregators (news readers). RSS feeds may show headlines only or both headlines and summaries.

To learn how news aggregators/RSS readers work, see this site: http://www.rss-specifications.com/rss-readers.htm

13. Post often to keep attracting your subscribers to come back and refer you to others in their networks; include links to other blogs, articles and websites in your posts

14. Use Trackback links when you quote or refer to other blog posts. What is TrackBack? Essentially what this does is send a message from one server to another server letting it know you have posted a reference to their post. The beauty is that a link to your blog is now included on their site.

15. Write articles to post around the web in article directories. Include a link to your blog in the author info box (See example in our signature below).

16. Make a commitment to blog everyday. 10 minutes a day can help increase your traffic as new content attracts search engine spiders. Put it on your calendar as a task every day at the same time.

Tip: Use a hit counter to track your visitor stats: how many unique visitors, how many page views, average length of visit. You can get a free hit counter at http://www.sitemeter.com

Getting Started With AdSense

Getting Started With AdSense

Joining AdSense

After you have created your web site completely, go to https://www.google.com/adsenseto apply. Most sites are either accepted or rejected within 24 to 48 hours, so you shouldn't have to wait too long to find out if your application has been approved.

Google will review your site before it is accepted into the program. So if your site is too small or does not contain enough original content, it will likely be rejected.

You should have your own domain name . Don't try to create a free Yahoo or AOL site with banners and pop-ups. The freebie web sites have lost a lot of respect over the years, and it may be harder to get your site accepted if it's created on such a shaky foundation.

If you do use a free provider, your site better be exceptionally organized, full of useful content, and cannot have banners and popups all over the place. Free web sites scream "Amateur!" and that may hurt your chances of getting in the program.

Once you're accepted, simply copy and paste the provided HTML code into any page that you'd like to show the ads. If you've done a good job of defining the content on your web pages, the ads that show should be relevant to the content of your page...increasing the chances of click-thrus by your visitors.Chances Of Getting Rejected !

Google has to be very careful about which sites they allow in the program. They don't want to lose the advertiser's dollars.

These are some of the probable reasons making your website rejected.

1) Is your site an "About Me" page? Google does not accept these kinds of personal sites because most of them do not have a specific topic. They are usually just random facts about the web site owner. It would be difficult for Google's technology to display targeted ads on these kinds of pages.

They are looking for "content focused" sites that contain a generous amount of information on a certain topic. It could be anything from sewing tips to hair care techniques. Just make sure there is an obvious theme with original content.

2) Is your site organized? Be sure your site has a neat and clean navigation that's easy to follow. Also ensure all the links work and that there are no typos. Keep the colors to a minimum and make sure each page has a consistent layout.

3) How many pages are on your site? Even though Google doesn't specify a page number requirement, many believe they are looking for web sites with a decent amount of content. Again, it's not likely a two-page site will get accepted. Try to strive for at least 20 pages.

4) Is your content solid? Don't just submit a web site with a bunch of links to other sites. Be sure you have enough original content of your own to make your site unique.

5) Are you receiving enough traffic? Google can get an idea of how much traffic you're receiving by visiting http://www.alexa.com/. There's no solid proof they check on this, but some believe they do.

Plus, if you're not receiving many visitors, it will be hard to make any decent money with this program anyway. Wait until your site is getting at least 100 unique visitors per day, then apply.

6)Make sure you have read the program policy and procedures carefully and verify your site hasn't violated any of the terms or policies.
